Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery, Carroll, IA to host much sought after Wine & Food Pairing Event

 

CARROLL, Iowa - On December 8, 2016, Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery, in Carroll, Iowa will host “A Seduction of the Senses,” a wine and food pairing event, featuring a four-course meal, Santa Maria’s award-winning wines, and wine education by John Guinan, local vintner and co-owner.

 

The event is open to the public and will begin with a Social Hour at 5:30 p.m., and the first course served at 6:30 p.m. “People have been asking for wine pairing events and wine education,” says Rose Guinan, John’s wife and co-owner of Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery, so that’s exactly what they’re going to provide.

 

Each course will be prepared by Chef Eric Berger, who comes to Santa Maria from one of Omaha’s premier venues. His passion and motivation to create inspiring dishes from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients translates to exquisite fare that produces pleasure for every palate! Courses will be accompanied by a new wine with every course, as well as tips on how to pair wine and food, creating an enhanced dining experience.

 

For almost 20 years, John Guinan has been crafting wines and creating experiences, but it was in 2009, when John and Rose opened the restaurant and tasting room, that he began to share his knowledge and love of great food, and great wine, with the public. Today, John’s “hobby” has grown into a vast selection of fine wines that are crafted from grapes grown by an assortment of growers, as well as from grapes grown at their own vineyards, less than 10 miles from the winery.

The Tuscan-inspired Santa Maria Winery & Vineyard is located in the historic, former Wittrock auto dealership on Highway 30 in downtown Carroll. In addition to the restaurant, tasting room, and charming courtyard, complete with outdoor seating, fountain, and fireplace, Santa Maria boasts an event center, whose old-world ambiance is classy, warm, and inviting. With fireplaces, a Tuscan bridal balcony, and a hand-carved mural that transports you directly to the vineyards and olive groves of Italy, this pleasing space is perfect for just about any gathering, large or small.
