Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery Named a Top Midwest Destination, Adds Aged Meats to Menu

 

CARROLL, Iowa (April 2017) - Since Santa Maria moved their winery and restaurant into the former Wittrock Motors building in 2009, the Carroll, IA, tuscan-style establishment has been acknowledged as a ‘must see’ in the Midwest. The Iowa-leading winery continues to raise the bar with the introduction of aged meats to their restaurant menu.

 

Named one of the ‘Best New Midwest Spots to Eat’ in 2010 by Midwest Living, Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery has always strived to provide an elevated experience. That experience continues with the recent addition of aged meats. Steaks, sirloins, and rib eyes will now be aged 21 days before being served which allows natural enzymes to break down muscle tissue, resulting in an enhanced flavor and texture. 

 

To elevate customers’ dining experience, Santa Maria recommends pairing their gold medal award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend, Red Twilight, with their aged meats.

 

Santa Maria has already received great response to the aged meats through special food pairing events and private tastings. “We are most known for our brick-oven pizza and wine of course,” said co-owner Rose Guinan. “This is a move [aged meats] we’ve wanted to make for some time now and we feel that this is the perfect time.” For those that may not be familiar with Santa Maria, their full-service restaurant and winery is conveniently located along historic Highway 30 and includes a tasting room, wine bar, and events center.

 

In 2016, Santa Maria was recognized by OnlyInYourState.com as one of the ’11 Most Romantic Restaurants in Iowa’ and their Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Pizza, a local favorite, received an honorable mention in Travel Iowa’s ‘Pie Madness’ competition. Santa Maria was also awarded the 2016 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for their overall consistency and quality rating.
